The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization founded in 1921 in Ireland. There are about 3,000,000 active members in 163 countries. Many more auxiliary members with their prayers support them.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God. Members strive for personal holiness by prayer and the performance of apostolic work under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the service of Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
The Legion of Mary is an instrument for evangelization with a variety of services. Catholics may enrich their spiritual lives while helping their parish clergy. This path will lead us to Jesus through Mary.
Since 1956, St. Michael Parish has had a unit of the Legion of Mary praying and working in Livermore. Our pastors have welcomed the Legion’s assistance in reaching areas that their precious time did not allow them to cover. “The harvest is greater than ever, but the laborers are few” so we invite you to attend a Monday meeting at 7:30PM in the Parish Conference Room.
All parishioners are invited to join the Medjugorje Prayer Group on Monday evenings at 7:30 in the chapel. The Rosary is prayed along with peace prayers, petitions , meditation and song. Prayer petitions can be given to the Rectory Office made to the attention of Eleanor Biel.

Pray for a Priest
Adopt a Priest with Prayer This ministry, begun at St. Mary’s parish in 1996, continues to pray for the priests of the Oakland Diocese. Priests have a Divine Mission but they are also very human and daily face the problems and struggles common to all of us. They have a great need of our support in prayer, love and concern. If you would be willing to pray each day during the current year for an individual priest of the Oakland Diocese, please send your name and address to Alice Osterman, 10 Pueblo Ct., Alamo, CA 94507 or phone 925-935-0461. Alice will mail the name of a priest for you. No meetings, no dues, just prayer!
Hour with Jesus
Reflection on “Year of the Priest”.... “Sometimes we take the priest for granted. Each day he offers Mass, hears confessions, meets with us, adminis- ters his parish, & even more, he prays for us! Such is the life of a priest, a life of self-giving. What can we do in return? We can pray for the sanctification of priests, for more priests, for their perseverance. We can thank him. “Thankyou, Father, for bringing me to Jesus...and Jesus to me. Thankyou, Father, for being a priest.” (B. Stelte- meir) “Am I loyal to him when I see him imperfect? Am I critical over the splinter in his eye, when week after week, I confess to him the beam in my own? Do I defend him & thank him for a job well done? Do I pray for him daily & ask God to make him holy?” (Mother Angelica) You are invited to adore Jesus, our Eternal Priest, every Friday in the Chapel 9:00am-9:00pm, ending with Benediction.
