St. Michael Parish, a diverse Catholic community, welcomes all people to celebrate and give thanks for God's unconditional love. As Disciples of Christ, we are committed to proclaim the Gospel message of faith through worship, sacraments, prayer, services and hospitality.
We are called through our Baptism to minister to the spiritual, educational and social needs of our parish family, through our gifts and talents. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we strive to bring about the Kingdom of God.
| Dear Parishioners, Welcome to St. Michael's Parish! This handbook was designed to provide you with an overview of our parish ministries and organizations. Guidelines for Receiving Communion
Guidelines While Attending Mass
Welcome to St. Michael Parish. The following suggestions are designed to help us to worship together in a meaningful and respectful manner.
Attire
The Church is a sacred space. Appropriate attire is what you would wear to meet an honored host. We ask that your attire be clean and neat.
Behavior
Please observe the following guidelines:
-
Refrain from unnecessary talking during the liturgy.
- Please attend to crying children.
- Do not bring food or drink.
- Do not chew gum.
- Minimize the use of perfume and cologne.
- Turn off all electronic devices prior to the beginning of the Service.
Guidelines for Receiving Communion
In order to be properly disposed to receive communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour.
All Catholics receiving communion are expected to do so devoutly. The word "Amen" is to be said immediately after the words "Body of Christ" are said and the receipt of the host Jesus. The host Jesus is to be placed in the mouth immediately, if not already administered there by the minister. Also, the word "Amen" is to be said immediately after the words "Blood of Christ" are said. The person receiving communion is requested to spend at least a few minutes in church honoring the lord Jesus before leaving the house of God.
Non-Catholics are not ordinarily admitted to Holy Communion without permission of the diocesan bishop.
