History:
We were formed in 2007 at the behest of the Pastoral Council in order to respond to needs of St. Michael Parish as expressed in a Town Hall meeting.
Mission:
Plant the seed of conversion within St. Michael's Parish, nurturing its growth through programs that deepen and enrich parishioners' desire to grow spiritually, walk daily with God, grow in charity, share the Eucharist, share their faith, and work for justice as disciples of Christ.
In practice, this means that we present programs and devotional resources about the Roman Catholic Faith, with a focus on deepening our understanding of the Sacraments and living out our discipleship in 21st century America.
Past Programs:
- • "Adult Faith Formation" column in the weekly parish bulletin
- • Oakland Cathedral of Light bus trip and tour
- • Little Books for Advent, Lent, Easter and the Gospels for personal devotion
- • Divine Mercy Sunday (pamphlets, bulletin articles, blessing of Divine Mercy image, prayer meeting for Divine Mercy chaplet)
- • “The Priesthood of Jesus Christ” by guest speaker Jim Sullivan
- • Pray for Priests pledge drive • “Lord Have Mercy: The Healing Power of Confession” film by Scott Hahn
- • Marriage program for St. Valentine’s Day
- • “Latin American Art in the Cathedral of Light” by guest speaker Barbara Mitchell
- • Catholic Social Doctrine lecture series by Fr. John Direen
- • "Reading St. Paul with Saints and Poets" lecture series by Professor Stephen C. Córdova

Interested?
We meet four times a year to plan activities. Each member then volunteers to help with two or three events: coordination, advertisement, setup and cleanup, refreshments, content development, audio/visual equipment. Please contact FET Coordinator Debbie Post if you would like to be a member, or have an idea for an event – we can work with you to make it happen.
